Katharine Agar, Class of 1941
First female partner at the law firm McDermott, Will & Emery

Katharine Agar graduated from Chicago-Kent in 1941 and went on to become the first female partner at the law firm McDermott, Will & Emery. She served as President of the Women’s Bar Association in 1947-1948 and was a recipient of the first Woman of Distinction Award of the Women’s Advertising Club of Chicago in 1959. She served on the Board of Managers for the Chicago-Kent Law Review in the 1960s and was Secretary of the Alumni Board of Directors from 1967 to 1971. In 1971, Agar was inducted as a member of the Chicago-Kent Honor Council and in 1980, she receive the law school’s Distinguished Service Award, recognizing her as an individual who made a significant contribution to the law school.
