U.S. Representative for the 14th Congressional District of Illinois
Randy Hultgren has represented the 14th Congressional District of Illinois in the U.S. House of Representatives since 2011. In the House, he sits on the Committee of Financial Services and the Committee on Science, Space and Technology and has become known as an outspoken advocate for basic scientific research and STEM education, having been the only member of the House to win two major science awards for members of Congress. He received the George Brown Science Technology Engineering Leadership Award from the Science, Technology, Engineering Working Group and in 2012, he was a recipient of the Champion of Science Award by the Science Coalition, a non-profit advocacy group composed of the 50 leading research universities in the country.
Hultgren’s career in politics began in 1994, when he was elected to the DuPage County Board and County Forest Preserve Board. He was later elected to the Illinois House of Representatives in 1999 and to the Illinois Senate in 2007.
