Joseph Cahill was the Editor of CRAIN’S CHICAGO BUSINESS since from 2005 to 2011 and is currently a columnist for the publication covering Chicago-area business and economic news. As Editor, Cahill oversaw all editorial operations for the regional business publication with 40,000 print subscribers and more than 150,000 online registered users. He directed Crain’s award-winning print and online news coverage that made CRAIN’S the leading source of business and economic news in the Chicago area and oversaw a staff that won more than 100 awards for journalistic excellence since 2005. Cahill had worked for CRAIN’S from 1995 to 1998 as an associate editor covering the technology and telecommunications beat, leaving in 1998 to cover banking for the WALL STREET JOURNAL.
Prior to becoming a journalist, Cahill practiced law for nine years, specializing in mergers and acquisitions, corporate finance and securities for Sidley & Austin, Continental Bank, Robinson, Curley & Clayton and Sears Mortgage Corporation.
